Marlene's Felting Madness

I am happy to announce that Martien van Zuilen will be visting Ohio on May 19-24, 2012. She will be teaching two workshops; Jewelry Adorned on Saturday, May 19 through Monday, May 21 and Jigsaw Weave and Felt on Wednesday May 23 and Thursday May 24. Participants will have the choice to take one or both workshops. There will be a free day between the two sessions. Those registering for both workshops will have the opportunity to spend a day at Timbre Ridge Farm with Martien. Chef Carl will fire up the grill for a cookout and there will be fun activities with Martien.

Jewelry Adorned - May 19-21, 2012

Learn creative and innovative felting techniques to make uniquely shaped jewelry components, and explore the wondrous possibilities of small scale sculptural treasures. Using fine Merino wool, create a variety of bead forms (Scrunch, Spike, Fangs, ColorCuts and more). Learn to make a felted cord in minutes, and then transform it into one-of-a-kind brooches, pendants, and more, more, more.... Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and bangles -anything is possible using wool and other natural fibers, and incorporating found objects. This is a hands-on workshop with lots of demonstrations, plenty of 'play time', and inspiration to boot!

- A supply list will be provided.

- Additional Materials Fee: $12 per student for a specially prepared material kit of

jewelry findings and Martien's hand-dyed wool for initial projects.

- Martien will have some 18 count merino variegated wool available for sale.

Jigsaw Weave and Felt – May 23-24

Investigate and learn the wondrous possibilities of incorporating woven effects in hand-made felt. Learn to interweave pre-felts made from fine wool fibers and finish your felt pieces with attention to technical detail for optimum effect. Choose your own colour palette and cutting/weaving patterns for striking results. Jigsaw Weave and Felt is a unique way of making felts with a very strong visual impact. The possibilities are endless; including cushions, bags, wearables and a range of accessories.

- Additional Materials Fee:

Approximately $20-$30 depending on project

A 50% deposit is required to reserve your space with remaining balance due March 1, 2012. Payments may be via Paypal, check or credit card (Visa, MC, and Discover).
